Real problems ahead - Peak Mince Pie!

As we all do, I was having a look at:

Start at page 7, about half way down, post 489.

Could this be the Black Swan event we have been dreading? And how on earth did that site pick it up before this one?

They're £1.09 for 6 in the Co-op, I've eaten far too many so far and it's nowhere near Christmas yet. Bring on the peak!

Excellent!

1. Stop deluding ourselves. The era of cheap, readily-available mince pies has ended. Prices may fluctuate, but the underlying trend is up, up, up. We have to get used to using less. Though for this christmas we must consume as many mince pies as possible because I say so.

I see someone responded in #491!

Thank God for your post. It's time somebody stood up and said what needs to be said.

I don't agree that it is the end of cheap mince pies though, a recent paper by a Dr D. Ipshite has suggested they may be abiotic in origin, thus no need to panic.

In Canada they're resorting to passing steam through layers of antedeluvian dead moose to extract the fat, which is then refined and used to make mince pies. The problem is that this process can only be powered by sweet Christmas Pudding, so the EROEI is appalling and, of course, the supply of cheap pudding is far from limitless.

Needless to say the effects on the atmosphere could be catastrophic.
