It's the when the price is right bit that concerns me, it's just as relevant to fuel costs. A new and i think unacceptable benchmark has been set for a barrel of crude, and it's going to be difficult to backpedal on that. The obnoxious but accurate RGR believed that we should stop wasting oil by burning it and use it as a feedstock for manufacturing industry. He was right, even when we substantially replace oil as a fuel it will still have very many uses and much value. If we can wean ourselves off our throwaway culture we can continue to exploit oil reserves with a clean conscience.
