The net benefit of growing crops to provide biofuels is so small as to be effectively worthless. Someone is producing ethanol using cyano-bacteria. The problem there is, when large amounts of fuel are needed, and not just a lab setup, the amount of land needed for solar collectors will be HUGE!!!
