apologies for the delayed reply. I have a piece of software that supposedly allows you download YouTube films (with Firefox, not IE), but only lets you play about the first 30 seconds of each clip so is useless. The site doesn't _say_ you need to pay for an upgrade, it appears to be complete, thus c...

easy info

Who are you presenting to? If you need to go easy, softly softly, to people who the ideas may be new to, this page may be worth a look for some ideas. It was put together by a relative PO newbie who'd decided he needed a way to get the idea over to others it would be new to... He is a Reverend, but ...

re: New fuel protests threatened: Sept 14th

John Hemming wrote: "We do, however, have to be careful to protect many people on low incomes from the consequences of the squandering of natural resources by the jet set." Yes, but this awareness should make you critical of the forced functional 'rationing' that will occur as a result of ...

First ?1 litre of petrol

I'd dispute that 'real term' waages are the same. We are constantly lied to about wages rises versus real cost of living. For example, I was in retail bookshop management for 16 years, and the starting salary 1986 is only ?1500 (on average) more today - then it was ?13000-14000 now it is 15000-16000...

How did you found out about PO?

I have been aware of resource depletion as a hot issue since reading the Club of Rome's Limits to Growth, back in the late seventies, and I moved from there towards a social ecology perspective on politics and culture. The oil issue came to the fore for me, along with certain rare metals, in 1991 wh...

re - First ?1 litre of petrol

Round my way it's averaging 91.9p per litre as of 21.07.05. For children of the seventies like myself that is a shocking 4.89 sterling per gallon! And to think the country virtually ground to a halt when it hit a pound a gallon back then. Shame the public can't do math - there'd have been a few more...

Victoria is indeed a trek from here, so I guess I'd be an irregular guest! Nonetheless, I'll make an attempt at some point, hopefully. I think Brighton may be better placed for me - unless I get to do m MA, in which case I'll be in Lancaster (we're talking sept 2006 earliest, if not later), now that...

Hi Tess,

Good to meet you too, all too briefly. Need a quiet pint type meet, rather than natter in the street type meet - do such things occur on a regular basis, and if so what's the venue?
