Actually, politicians often change direction. How often have you read in the paper about a 'u-turn' on this or that? The problem is that the media makes too much of a big thing of it. From a politician's point of view, they held their previous conviction on the basis of the information that was avai...

Tasks can also be achieved by a networking and cooperating to achieve a goal. For that to work it is necessary that most (not all) of the members are focused on the goal. People will then organise themselves and achieve the goal without the need of someone with power over them and this sort of beha...

If you can do something about it, there is no need to worry.
If you can't do anything about, there is no point in worrying!

I like the term ?GovCorp? because it incorporates two elements (the largest ones as well) of the system. ?GovCorp? as an entity doesn?t actually exist It looks to me as though you are trying to create an all-pervasive, nameless, faceless enemy in the same way that Bush et al have created the "...

I've been wondering about what it will be like when the die-off begins. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that those who are due to die are the ones who have not made any plans for the future. They have not attempted to curb their consumption, they have not bought a bicycle, not got a solar ...

More or less I agree. It's good to make improvements. One doesn't even necessarily need to own them. Refusing to support something you don't agree with is also cool, especially if you have an alternative that you do agree with and support. 8)

The reason for this question is that I am feeling somewhat riled by the frequently repeated assertion that "we need to create a network of communities and develop links between them". This is simple and true in essence, and as I have stated, there are many people in the world who are alrea...

if and when things get bad these groups could start to form communities with a network of communities in place. I could see this as something that can go beyond nations and be linked together across the world. This is already happening. People are doing it. Their motivation is not necessarily PO; i...

Is it fair to say that - from a politician's point of view - making a noise about oil depletion is equivalent to a slap in the face to the OPEC cats who currently provide it? Or perhaps - regardless of manners - it is expected that much talk of oil depletion will lead to more rapidly rising prices a...

Still looks tiny to me if it's supposed to represent the energy use of a whole continent -for a whole year too - I thought at first it must be daily use! I had exactly the same thought. Maybe it is just because it's a small picture. Incidentally, I was chatting to a friend who recently spent a year...
