Hi Andy,

Have a look at this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Deep-Cycle-Gel-Ba ... dZViewItem

How does the price of this battery compare with what you paid for yours, (discounting the postage cost of course)

Cheers

Hi Andy, Well, we have had a good many sunny days now around our area, and it looks like a good many more to come before the end of the week. How is your system performing? One more thing, I have never heard of remote controlled sockets whereby you can control all of your sockets. Where did you get ...

Andy, are your batteries holding the charge. Just what I was thinking......are the batteries ok? If you've discharged them to over 50% Depth of Discharge (DOD) regularly, their life will be severely shortened. Do you know at what level the input low voltage protection and the low battery alarm are ...

Hi Andy, Actually I would love a projector more than anything. In fact when my plasma goes bang then it's a projector for me. What is the power consumption of a projector. I am aware that they use a special, very expensive bulb. Here is another article about testing solar panels http://www.icpsolar....

Andy, Have a look at this, I think that it may help you To test a used solar panel, set your voltmeter to DC volts, and measure across the + and - terminals of the panel. This is called the "open-circuit voltage." A 12 volt panel should show about 21 volts in full sun. Panels designed to b...

To be honest I've pretty much made up my mind to go for one of those 240W panels on ebay to supplement my 330W. The 330W just doesn't seem enough really. I'm hoping that nearer 600W will be a bit more like it, which is still only a third of the 1.5kW you are looking at for your own system, Poisondw...

Hi all, Thanks Mike, That was a very good post and yes, I did follow just about all of it. Here is a nice little article that I have just found http://www.earthtoys.com/emagazine.php?issue_number=05.04.01&article=adisolar I was not aware that you could get a grant of 50% if you decided to tie a ...

I have seen one house, in a small village just outside Kendal, which has the biggest solar electric PV array that I have ever seen. There has to be a minimum of 12 and possibly up to 20 solar panels I am dying to knock at their door just to find out what it produces. Try this: http://www.alternativ...

Thanks Mike, that's very interesting. I'm toying with the idea of getting a mobile renewable energy soundsystem which I can install in my Austin Mini. I could probably fit a 120W PV panel on a roof rack, a big chunky leisure battery in the boot along with a charge controller, a hi-fi stereo amp and...

Hi all Right, back to the original subject :) Dont forget ....... my plan was initially to power about 750W of equipment for about 5 or 6 hours EVERY night. Thats a total of, on average, of about 4KW EVERY night. If I have, lets say 8 x 90Ah batteries, (just as Andy H has) then would they produce ne...

Hi all Andy Hunt you said There is a lot of rough with the smooth. Like tepid shower water on cloudy days. Like the bloody hard work of collecting and chopping logs to try to fill the store before the end of May, so they can dry over the summer. Like trying to keep the fire in when the logs have got...

Hi Tracey Well well well.....is it the way all women think? You are correct! The cat looks good, in the winter months, lay flat out in front of the fire. (Actually, to be fair to my wife....he does look good) He was a stray who decided to move in with us and indeed our next door neighbour. We share ...

Hi all, Hi Mike, That's fair enough, there's plenty of things I still do that will have to come to a halt before too long, like driving a car, for example, which I will probably keep doing for some time yet. Still, it used to be two inefficient cars in our household, now it's one efficient one, so t...
