Just replaced all the bulbs with LEDs from homebase, they just plug into the existing fittings now, and the colour is really nice, a slightly less yellow light than filament or CCF. I reacon the 4-5w bulbs are very equivalent to the old 60w filament ones, also work with dimmers etc no problem.

I've been involved with CABI (hoping to build their new zero energy HQ!), They are experts in natural methods of invasive species suppression; they have been carrying out tests on Japanese Knotweed... http://www.cabi.org/default.aspx?site=170&page=1033&profile=1&query=knotweed&forcer...

Ok, thanks all, lots of intresting stuff to think about. Given that we live in this world and not Ian M Bank's culture, I think i might give it a shot.

peer to peer lending / borrowing

Anyone got any inside knowledge of P2P lending and borrowing, it sounds like an intresting concept, one which breaks the banks stranglehold on liquidity?

feeling brassic?

This is a good explanation of the effects of inflation...

I listen to the argument between the deflationists and inflationists, however in all the essentials we are rapidly getting poorer..

We use 3d printing quite often to make scale models of building projects from the 3d cad data. Models currently tend to be quite fragile, you can now buy a full colour 3d printing machine for £3000 if you so wish! This is amusing... http://twistedsifter.com/2012/11/3d-printed-lego-street-art-greg-pe...
