OK - y understanding of the definition of road freight was wrong. I concur then that less road frieght is obviously a good thing, but i guess what I was thinking in my head and not getting on paper - is given a choice on what to use valuable petrol and diesel on I would rather have it used on Haulag...

I have a nice little powerpoint presentation that shows how pharmaceuticals / computers and supply chains of businesses in general will be messed up by Peak Oil.

I'll try to get it online once I am back in the UK in september.

I reckon computers and IT will become redundant and I have also had the idea of working in RE (and the inevitable failure in securing a job - even with a PhD and Degree in Chemical Engineering!) I have decided to start my own business - (not been successful in securing any sort of Peak Oil proof job...

ref: point 2

Air conditioning (or any cooling device like a fridge) can act as a cooling device or a heating device - depending upon which "end" is considered the useful end. Ever noticed how a fridge belches out heat from behind - well thats the energy it is removing from the cold inside. Air conditio...

Tools for business - real solutions

Anybody know any people or oganisations that are working on REAL solutions and tools for business (rather than just peddling scare stories or personal survival guides - after all if our businesses go bust everything else gets very hard) I have some ideas relating to supply chain security, but want t...

I love the idea of investing in land and thinking about pensions and all that stuff, but as land in the UK costs so much unless you're loaded you are stuffed. I don't believe in any sort of pension scheme - I am 28 and not confident that by the time I come to retire anything that remotely resembles ...

Simon Snowden - yep I found it thanks - hoefully he will be in touch. I must admit I also have a mistrust of consultants (in general) but there is no denying their value in certain areas if they are truelly experienced with a lot of knowledge or contacts. My idea and "tool" for business go...

Businesse are not in a position to come up with their own solutions - if they were then there would not be all this panic welling around about the inevitable decline that Peak Oil will cause. Of course - some people with a natural ability to adapt won't need consultants (and some of the consultants ...

HELP - who is working on business solutions to PO?

Does anybody know any websites, people or organisations (maybe business or economic departments at universities) that are working on business solutions to Peak Oil. I mean real tangible solutions and action plans that people can use instead of reading something and going OH S**T my business is screw...

Which Councils / Towns / cities have a PO policy (of sorts)?

Hey guys, anybody know which towns or cities or local councils have a Peak Oil policy or have policies / strategies or things happening that will be useful to the Peak Oil cause? e.g. there is a town down south somewhere that is encouraging local people to buy locally (don't know which town it is bu...

Compile a list of companies with a PO Policy

I think it would be a really good idea to compile a list of companies which know of and accept PO. Additionally those that have a PO policy and a strategy (or putting in place a strategy) to deal with it. I suggest that people who are working for a company like this should add their companies to thi...

Finding Engineering work linked to PO is V. Difficult

hi Jammin, I know exactly what you mean about wanting to apply your engineering skills to solving the problems of PO. I discovered PO about this time last year and spend 10months looking for work and ideas on how I could go forward and use my skills to help solve the problem whilst still making a li...

I'm still in Yorkshire but not for too long I fear. I'm currently living up in leeds but I haven't been able to find a job - basically trying to find a medium sized business that will let me do the job I want whilst researching into Peak Oil and how it would affect their business. Anybody know of an...
