Re: Labour Party/government Watch
It would not surprise me to see them get radical. Nothing stands in their way. All along I have been hoping this would be the case, we'll see. Nothing stands in their way in terms of their parliamentary majority. Their problem is that they don't have a mandate to get radical, and they've shown no s...

Uneasy bedfellows. “There’s a point when both Labour and the Conservatives will see the current system as threatening their interests, and then they may start to think: ‘OK, we need to change this.’” https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/jul/08/disproportionate-uk-election-results-boost-...

Re: Electoral Reform
Mr Farage may be the unlikely hero here. There are mutterings in the press that it's very unfair that Reform only got 5 seats on 14% of the vote. Of course other parties are muttering too (not Labour or the Tories), but for some reason Reform are the ones who get their voice heard whenever they spea...

https://archive.is/jMi5t John Curtice: Labour’s strength in Commons is heavily exaggerated Voters have rejected the Conservatives, but they failed to embrace Starmer’s party. Nevertheless, thanks to the electoral system, it still won a landslide In the most disproportional electoral outcome in Brit...

Re: Labour Party/government Watch
''This was unexpected'' said Phil, who likes to talk about politics. Moi approves of what Starmer has done immediately upon taking office. Keep doing it. Take the politics of of things that need fixing and just treat them as problems that need fixing, without the dogma. https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: United States Presidential Election 2024
There are no serious doubts about Biden's mental capacity beyond that which might be expected at that age. Trump though, a different matter. Try listening to one of his 'speeches', then read the text version of that speech. Jesus, he's totally lost it, inchoherent doesn't come close. Anyway, you're...

'Powerswitch has degraded into a small group of old men being bemused by world events and quibbling about the weather.' Sunny here today, a little windy which is keeping the temperature down. The weather was much better when I wer a lad. I see from reading the Sunday Sport that Putin fellow is a bi...

Age limits and psychological testing for anyone who wishes to put themselves forward for public office. Especially psychological testings. Anyone who puts themselves forward in the first place is suspect. Not everyone, but look at what people put up with anywhere, not just here.

Re: United States Presidential Election 2024
Beware the propaganda. See this, mentions this G7 clip: https://popular.info/p/sinclair-floods-local-news-websites Oh come on - it’s not just one clip. There’s no way he’s capable of actually running a country. The interesting question is, given that Biden is patently incapable, who is actually run...

Re: General Election 2024
What Starmer has done, considering where the Labour party was when he took over, is quite the achievement. It's also quite an achievement what the Tory party have done, that is if you don't like them much. I sincerely hope that the 'calming' measures undertaken by Starmer do lead to a massive win be...

Re: General Election 2024
In general looks like Labour are making themselves as small a target as possible, whilst Tories are running round with huge FO circles on their backs. That's the ones who haven't gone into hiding.
