I suspect that the main reason mask wearing does work is that those that are wearing them also practice social distancing and hand disinfection as much as possible while wearing them. It is the combination of apparel and behavior that might make the difference. That said you could not pay me enough...

The problem I have with this is the actual real world evidence does not at all support this. But logic would suggest they absorb aerosols and even if they are proven ineffective, do they actually cause harm? If worn properly and not as a panacea, then what harm can they do. If aerosols are signific...

This also has a bearing on how the world will change post pandemic. I was doing some woodwork in the workshop yesterday, wearing a home-made mask my sister in law stitched. It has a little pocket where you insert a sheet of kitchen towel. When finished the kitchen towel is put on the woody, and the ...

I wondered if the aerosol aspect was swept under the carpet in favour of soap simply because everybody had soap and no masks were available. Yes. Instead of getting everyone with a sowing needle to make masks, deliver a coherent message, they went for the centralised we know best strategy. But then...

Very interesting article from an academic I have been following for a while. Countries which have adopted the theory that the virus is spread not only by fomites and droplets, but also aerosols, have better outcomes. Facemasks seem to prevent the aerosol transmission. https://www.theguardian.com/com...

They will rue the day they ever humiliated Theresa May. She was supine, she was on their side, she wanted a BRINO deal. What was the commissions response? Believe what the fifth columnists (Blair, Starmer, Major,) were briefing, that if they (EU) threatened, obfuscated, and then humiliated the UK PM...

The heating season in the UK is about Nov-March.

This is not about Left versus Right and it is not about Liberalism versus Authoritarianism. It is about Localism versus Globalism and different sections of society have taken sides on the basis of their perceived economic interests. I agree with this. Peoples view on the efficacy of the management ...

]Given the massive number of false positives with Covid19 tests, that couple of dozen could easily be first time infections Yes, Matt Hancock got it wrong on false positives a while back. About 1% of all positives are false positives? If true thousands of positives are in fact negative. So, the cha...

So far I have not seen anything decisive to stop me wearing facemarks in indoor public places (shops) It just seems the core of good sense. It reduces viral load, and with the reduced viral load inoculation may be given. I suppose we will never know. Big pharma will produce a vaccine and take all th...
