VW, diesel engines, whats going on?

Oil depletion mitigation maybe? I dunno the exact figures, but most of you will know, as far as I remember, one gets substantially more by volume cracking into petrol than diesel, although there is less energy content in petrol. So, diesel bad, bad, bad - petrol good! Now we switch back to petrol, o...

I certainly agree with Adam that "something" does appear to be on the cards, however I am not quite so "doomish" - I may be wrong of course! I hold out hope that, even though things may appear to be horrendous, in reality it will be temporary, and actually designed to prevent, or...

Heheheh - yup, I imagine that "TPTB" do indeed have extensive plans in place. No Mad Max/Zombie apocalypse will be allowed to happen. I think we can all be fairly sure of that. They have even been practising - lot's of weird booms, bangs, "explosions" and unseen "fireworks&...

It's just good management and bad reporting. The NHS runs at close to capacity year round to give good efficiency. Obviously in high demand/ staff short times, they postpone/re-schedule non urgent treatment. They don't cancel anything - not least because those who make the decisions are well paid f...

I feel that lack of communications may be a much bigger problem than is expected. Cell phones are reliant on power to the masts, backup batteries are provided but typically only last a few hours. A few key sites have generators, but most don't and those that do presumably don't have fuel for weeks....

No Mad Max/Zombie apocalypse will be allowed to happen. I think we can all be fairly sure of that. You have clearly never been to Camborne. :? My favourite bit of Gosden's has to be this: 10. Money “LINK ATM network, card payments and Point of Sale will probably fail. “Although payments would still...

7. Transport “Roads will suffer congestion due to the anticipated self-evacuations... Oh, shit! :D Still, I know of one Camborne resident who'll be happy . I trust that 'the powers that be' have a good plan in place to let Camborne know that the Mad Max zombie apocalypse has officially started... t...

That's quite some equipment you are talking about there - not cheap, nor as easy easy to get hold of still in the U.K. Ham licences etc required to purchase. Seems like things are hotting up nicely with regard to the decline mitigation. I would imagine January will see a major increase in global wei...

I doubt it will happen. By the time the industry and the banking/financial sector is shut down, passenger air/sea travel stopped etc, there will be more than enough to keep the lights on and people warm. I am somewhat convinced this will all be in place by July. All that will be required is sufficie...

Avatar file size on PS

Am having a problem uploading an avatar. I have a photo which I use on all forums, and is fine, but whenever I try to upload to PS, it tells me that "the file size must be less than 6 KB". I suspect the other forums re-size the pic to within the limits automatically, but I have no clue as ...

Good article. :) Better than the Queen's speech, I reckon. I like the idea of starting a 'cargo cult'. We could have ritualised re-enactments of the Tesco lorry arriving, or ordering crap off ebay. Silver Fox: "All we had to do was push a button on this pebble thing and the tiny lights on this...

Something else which has caught my attention is the "blind eye" being turned towards the importation and sale of cheap two-way radio equipment world-wide. Most countries, and the U.K. in particular, have always kept fairly strict control on this - but now one can pick up illegal walkie-tal...

IMHO, your conclusions are premature. I suspect that much of what you forecast WILL come to pass, but not as promptly as you expect. It is well to be prepared for any near term problems though, just in case you are right and doom does indeed come as quickly as forecast. World war 3 is regularly for...

Well, that fellah just made a full grown Englishman cry. It doesn't even matter if the No's win by a whisker today. The Scottish revolt won't go away now. I hope to God they don't win though.... I don't think the vote/referendum makes any difference. If the "no's" win, the "Scotland ...
