Early on in the oil and gas age, I believe that petrol engines were sometimes run on natural gas liquids straight from the well without refining or treatment. It was considered natural gasoline. Still happens all the time today, just don't do it in a modern engine, use that old carburated Ford. Law...

Re: the myth of "saudi america"

A hard-hitting article from Slate. According to the statistics presented by J. David Hughes at the AGU session, we are now drilling 25,000 wells per year just to bring production back to the levels of the year 2000, when we were drilling only 5,000 wells per year. More here. Pretty hard hitting. Fo...

And to think that they let him out the door without demanding the taxpayer Solyndra money back first.

Well, how many times can someone call for the end of the world before people are allowed to notice that...it didn't? And I'm pretty sure the report doesn't call for any such thing anyway. It doesn't. But the author has the implications stamped all over the thing. I actually read it thinking ...

Shame they didn't cite The Oil Drum... poor form. Why would they? Because a lot of the numbers and diagrams were lifted straight off the website, which is published under creative commons - copying is allowed if it is attributed. I went back and checked, and didn't notice any of the charts and grap...

The first major food shortage in the US or at least the first one people will notice. Not enough chicken wings to go with the beer on Superbowl Sunday. This is serious and the Obama administration had better do something about it besides blame it on Bush!!! http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013...

Amazingly cool. Always wanted to spend a year in New England, but until someone sends me up there to drill a well, probably won't make it except during tourist season.

The NRA is great. It is pathetic we even need them in America, but liberals really only like the parts of the Constitution related to eating tofu, stripping everyone else of rights they reserve for themselves (armed guards for only the rich kids, let the others get killed!), and the idea that no one...

and the gun lobby will be as powerful as ever because Americans really like their guns. Crazy people included, which is the real problem.

They are stockpiling for practice, not to use during random street violence, and Obama isn't really going to get the guns. I suspect it is just an excuse to drive up prices for awhile on some guns or another to help out campaign contributors. Can't ever discount money in American politics. I would h...

No one is denying instances of police brutality but you seem to be denying that some members of the Occupy movement were planning criminal acts that make them justified targets for the FBI. How dare you be so troll-like! Amazing how one sided points of view are, this group is all nicey-nicey, those...

Clearly the Occupy movement is a threat to the world order, demanding that we live in harmony with Nature and at peace with each other. Oh, and we BELIEVE them, do we? Peace and harmony with nature...oh sure. http://gulagbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/violence-riots-vandalism-occupy-oakland-n...

Higher taxes for more revenue. Less spending. In a growing economy. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Getting started on this path now means it will be more difficult to turn into a Greece situation later.
