In south Africa you have loads of farmers in place with legal title to their land and the blacks rape and torture them often for days, then cut off parts of their body's while still alive and leave them as part of ritual magic . Ya know...I let here far too rapidly. I really wish I'd said what a bu...

Incentives could still exist under a "non-capitalist" system. You don't have to have an incentive of obscene, unimaginable wealth. Just earning four or five times as much as some other people should be enough, shouldn't it? Incentives don't just have to be monetary wealth either. Longer h...

I think this is what brought me back to peak oil websites and hence here, after a hiatus, since i looked into it in 2003/4. The talk last year coming out of the new Govt seemed to me to be saying we really need to get on top of our spending for more reasons than they were letting on. I don't agree w...

Only showers as an option?

What about those of us who only have a bath? (and those crappy tap add-on things that pretend to be showers, that don't work as an actual shower???? )

Quick thought on this... does ANYONE here use spray on anti-perspirant? I'd bet heavily on NOT. I've never used anti-perspirant, except for fun, on a couple of occasions in my life, probably 20 years ago. Each time I've used it, I've stank for weeks afterwards of BO. Even though I was washing every ...

I may pop into the Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop later today as I'll be in town to pick up something else... they have a sale on and their extra thick pure wool jumpers are £17. I have one from last year and it's really warm, has held up well to almost constant winter wear and has probably saved it's ...

Guessing you not got kids postie? If there was a choice then to me its a no brainer the people that helped cause this crisis (the adults, who helped consume/waste resources on utter crap) should be the 1st to starve end of, not the poor kids whos future has been stole away for bits of metal and pla...

Surely if have few resources, than having lots of children puts you at massive risk of not securing sufficient resources to feed them every year, running the risk of them starving to death. To put it brutally, if that was the case, then, so what? Yeah, some kids die of preventable illness or hunger...

Some charity shops have a wool box where they flog off balls of wool at stupidly cheap prices... you either have to ask, or look around in odd corners where they stash it. I'm sure it's a secret the old biddies behind the counter hold on to for their old biddy friends... I did intend to learn ...

Well I dunno...I've read quite a chunk (about 2/3, so not all) of Marx's Kapital and in those 2/3 there's no mention of natural resources (as in, capitalism's bad effects on) whatever. Also heard others say that wan't exactly his strong suit (or at least, not the strong suit of "Marxism",...

Read some solid marxism... capitalism is programmed to its transformation or destruction. There is no conspiritorial 'miracle' waitng to happen. Greer warns precisely about this kind of thinking - that there is some kind of global elite ready to save us. Its a load of bollocks. Wow! Except for the ...
