So finding a "solution" to the antibiotic resistant bacteria gets the vote. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-28027376 Antibiotic resistance seemed to be natures solution to another problem to me. I agree about a method of cheap desalination being a more noble and possibly achi...

Whenever I visit my brother's home, there are always 2 TVs turned on, all the time, and neither he or his wife is watching either of them. I'm glad I don't have his electricity bill. Electricity seems really cheap to me. Since other half moved out Ive noticed a massive saving on gas bills, but even...

By far the biggest impact is the billion+ people watching more telly that they would do otherwise. If watching TV is less energy intensive an activity than they would be doing otherwise, then the World Cup could save energy! I was wondering last night if watching TV in high definition used more ene...

In the 1750's Thomas Turner kept a diary about life in England. There were major restrictions on people moving from county to county, entirely for economic reasons. 1750 wasn't that long ago really, in the greater scheme of things and it's amazing how similar life was in some ways. He didn't half wa...

Most of the people I know who don't vote just say it's because "it wouldn't make any difference" or "nothing would change".

They are probably right, but I still vote.

I quite like this thread. I can see both sides but end up on the side of immigration isn't bad for the economy, or for working people.

Could be bad for local environmental issues.

I should add, none of the above is something I dwell on at particular length. For me, my problem with the levels of immigration to this island are to do with economic and social upheaval in the short term and ecological unsustainability in the longer term. The cultural flash points, where they occu...

Stumbled across this despicably vile website http://www.britainfirst.org/about-us/ We will restore Christianity as the bedrock and foundation of our national life as it has been for the last one thousand years. I don't suppose Jesus Christ would have joined them. :( Actually it's quite funny: The r...

True, there are a lot here but they were here already working as self-employed. I've not seen any increase (nor decrease) in Romanian nationals at work.

Rubbish. Haven't you ever heard of "Management"? Sure. They tend to be the ones who are better at "office politics" than they are at actually doing the job. There are plenty who get promoted in order to get them out of the way of the real work. As long as they then don't get bac...
