The ['Dark Matter'] headlining... was a very astute editorial move, I'm not sure that it was the most useful from a purely scientific point of view"

You might still want to add a stabiliser. The other issue you will likely encounter with laying the car up for months is 'battery drain', as modern cars tend to use a few milliamps constantly (for anti-theft systems, etc), so either regular charging or maybe a little solar trickle charger that sits ...

For cars, bikes and light vehicles, if the MOT was due to expire on or after 30th March, it gets an automatic 6 month extension (although you still need to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, as normal). This extension should show up on the database around 7 days before the due date. More details here...

This doesn't appear to have been answered, so I'll dip in here... Is there a consensus that people are at greater risk with a heavier/more frequent dose? Eg medical staff. With regard to medical staff, while there does appear to be a general consensus that they are at greater risk, like many aspects...

The DD meter is bouncing around all over the show. It doesn't tally with my own (measured) logs or the data on Gridwatch and there's nothing significant on BMReports . I guess DD need to get their soldering iron out again (or learn how to use the BMR API). ;) How the meter works We soldered together...

Also why a 11 metre tower. I know that the wind speeds are higher up there but so are the speeds when you hit the ground after falling from there. Safety and simplicity. Also why not get two smaller lower turbines attached to the house or garage? The relationship between turbine size and it's power...

Those type of vent are kinda designed to restrict... you control the airflow by screwing that centre disc in and out (useful if you have multiple vents and need to balance the airflow between them). That said, screwed all the way out, they don't restrict much. I used them for the out-take vents on o...

I'd second Adams comment: go for the extra PV.

IME little turbines (< 1kW) are a waste of time and money.

We did this... I used one of these '12v marine bilge blowers', with one of these PWM speed controllers to set the speed (& to keep noise down) and a mechanical thermostat (in the room with the burner) to automate it. As Ken suggests, just run the ducting under the loft insulation (or wrap it in ...

Heh... one per circuit @ ~£120 a pop! Smallest available (Crabtree) is 2 units wide, so let's factor in a new (double decker) consumer unit, while we're at it. I'm told they won't trip on brushed motors/switch arcing, as the little computer inside is far too intelligent to allow that to hap...
