I'll never vote again. Our votes give "them" a legitimacy they do not deserve (whichever party...) and allows them to make decisions on our behalf without real consultation other than once every four years or so. How many of us voted for the Iraq fiasco? I see "not voting" as an ...

Shit box

Not yet - but I think I'll give it a go... it'll be nice and handy for parcelling up my message to the government - and should be handy for sending that message in the post to them. :D

As part of my groups Anglo Saxon re enactment kit we have a quern stone (made in derbyshire - circa £150) which is ideal for grinding any type of grain during a power out situation. It is labour intensive (typically 8 - 9 passes through the stone to get from grain to flour) - but hey labour intensiv...

G20 Protest

Yup I'm going - not sure which horseman I'll be following. I'll have to brush up on my protest chants - not sure if "Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, out out, out," will still cut the mustard

That'll be the same Harvey Niks that's just put up signs for a 90% off sale in Birminghams Mail Box shopping centre. Watched it go from 20% (pre xmas) through 50% & 70% to 90% during January!

If I wait a bit longer they'll be paying me to take their stock away at this rate!

Sadly there are two arms to our business - one that caters for those thay "fly above the turbulence" buying original monets at a million a kick etc, the other arm (that I belong to) sells "aspirational art" to the middle classes (with price tags between £500 and £5000). I can acc...

How's this for a precarious position.... accountant at a publisher of "fine art." It really has to be the ultimate in uneccesary products...! With the collapse of the house building sector and rising unemployment we'll surely be at meltdown some point next year. Who want's to buy a scultur...

Yeah, and what confuses me is there was a whole hoohaa about getting the initial $700B past congress - remember the vote - but there's been not a word about all the subsequent huge amounts that have been pumped into their system?

How come?

Wouldn't it be possible to organise some sort of escorted convoy system? As I understand it there are Royal Navy vessels out there, elements of the US 5th Fleet and even Russian Navy vessels. I appreciate this could restrict commercial time tables etc, ie ships having to gather together prior to set...

Power Supergrid

The Times reports that TPTB are planning a "Power supergrid to protect Europe from a Russian threat to choke off energy". While I appreciate our potential vunerability to such an action I can't recall Russia ever threatening this can you? It seems that under the plan European countries wil...

The living history bit means no phones, computers, tv etc - just friends and family round the campfire (plus learning some interesting / useful craft skills) while the battle re enactment with blunt but otherwise realistic weapons burns of...
