Nothing from the garden yet. I didn't get my early spring
stuff planted in time. I have rapsberries (razzberries :D )
growing nicely and my tomato plants look devine.

I've decided to try trading my excess chicken eggs for
whatever folks have in their gardens.

My heart goes out to them. We just went through the worst
drought in a hundred years in the south east US. It
was awful. No rain for ever. The grass crunched beneath
my feet. My horse collicked. The ground was so dry
that long established trees died and horses were sold
for less than 50 bucks.

Thanks for the welcome. You could try
mulching with old hay or straw. Hubby
can't figure out why I put hay in my garden.
It's a weed barrier of sorts and helps
keep moisture in.

Sounds like it, after reading the transcripts. Most
folks don't understand how vulnerable the electric
is tied in to fossil fuels. They think, "Hey, I'll just
get an electric car and that will solve everything!"

I've planted apple trees, then lost 2 to hungry sheep. I planted
raspberries, and a pomegranate and a fig and lost them all
to the worst souther US drought in a hundred years.

This year I planted 2 elderberries, 4 blueberries, more
raspberries, and a kiwi vine in need of a mate.

I agree with the OP, but take it a step further.
A heck of a lot of folks will be showing up on
my doorstep, and I'm not Walmart. What then?
How can the average prepper/doomer handle
the load of family and friends that come asking for
sustenance?
