I bought my usual Morrisons organic coffee today (the only organic one on a whole bay of coffees). There is a Soil Association organic logo on the side. But this time I read the small print: 'Only approved fertilizers and pesticides'. Exactly what is 'approved' I'm not clear. I went to the Soil Asso...

John Major invited Savile to entertain the wives of the G7 That sounds sinister now. Poor wives...... BTW I think Watson has now said it wasn't Heath he was referring too ( although his name has come up elsewhere),it was Thatcher. That might be what Watson is saying he meant now, but that still lea...

I've only just caught up with all this, I've been successfully ignoring it, but I'll add my titbits. John Major invited Savile to entertain the wives of the G7 over an afternoon (1992, I think). Plus there's a possible controversial Ted Heath link (as put to Cameron in parliament recently). Didn't S...

Odd? Comes from having a parliament with only two MPs who have had a career as professional scientists and a government that pays little heed to science on many issues. Yep. I notice that most of the Chinese leadership seem to be engineers, Britain's tend to be: (1) Professional politicians with li...

Surprised how much this Government is hated? I'm surprised that you're surprised! David Cameron is organising a moral-building jolly at a brewery next Sunday, but they'll all be back to work bright and sober at 7am on Monday  That's interesting, there's a debate in parliament on the beer duty...

Vaguely rings a bell. After a while all the different infringements of our liberties blur into one. Probably what the authorities are counting on. Unfortunately, I doubt the boss of the NCA, Mr Bristow, is this harmless cheery bloke of the same name: http://www.chrisbeetles.com/sites/default/files/s...

As I said before, I enjoy some of Niall Ferguson's writing and at least he has admitted to being a neo con. However he is a Bilderberger and the historian of the Rothschild family (see his bibliography). His conclusions seem mysteriously convenient in that they always seem to push forward neo con in...

One might expect a steep drop in the price of firewood as the market is flooded with diseased ash followed, at some point later, by a steep rise in price. I'm not sure they will necessarily be diseased. It's a dreadful thought that, apparently, every case found may result in a 20km radius of chains...

This is what the central banks are going to engineer, a steady inflation rate of 5/6 % over a decade and to gradually reduce the real value of debt half over the longer term. I agree that's probably the plan (assuming there isn't some sort of collapse or inflation gets out of control). 2012 = £100 ...
