I hope that people start walking the walk rather than talking the talk, but it is too early to tell. Since you are from Cambridge have you come across the folks ...

Thermals, walking boots, big quitlted jacket and hat are enough during the day. I had a electronic thermometer last year and was fine with this down to an internal temp...

I heard the other day that Riverford Organics have done a Life Cyle Analysis of reusable plastic bags for their operations (guessing their boxes but not sure) and they have come to the conclusion that they are better then the paper bags.

Anybody have confirmation of this or more details?

Re: What’s that in the car park? Looks like a drilling rig

Times OnLine - 13/01/10 Consumers have turned up the thermostat to counter the plunging temperatures This really gets my goat. Journalists don't understand what a thermostat does or is. I saw this on a bbc news item a couple of weeks ago too. A thermostat maintains a desired chosen temperature (all...

How about 'priority lanes' for the checkout for cyclists and pedestrians, thiner trolleys so you can hang your ortlieb bags on the side, cycle bays next to the disabled bays and at least a fixed proportion of car bays being replaced by cycle bays each month or year. Discounts for cyclists? Has anybo...

It depends on how high the roof is and your first section of downpipe on house and sheds compared to the highest point at the furthest reach on the land. If the later is smaller than the former then you can have the collector high up on the downpipe connected all the way through to the end of the ga...

No mention of peak oil at all.

I must admit thought there would be more reaction to:

The End of Capitalism : Guardian Lecture

I had a stroll down to the new Kings Place in Kings Cross for this Tuesday night and here are some comments I picked up on the night: Will Hutton: - "The efficient market hypothesis is the biggest mistake the world has ever made" - He mentioned that there are figures showing that the US pr...

"If I was to examine my life and ask what would reduce my carbon footprint, I would say stop eating meat," Maslin says. "That's much more significant than unplugging your fridge." And if you stopped eating meat and dairy then there is much less reason to have a refrigerator. stu...

For the low low price of $25b China has just bought 171,232bpd for the next 20 years. What exactly did "the west" do that equaled that? As far as I have read (and sorry I don't have the sources to hand) the West colluded to bring the oil price down so low that Russia fell and became the F...
