Horses 'retired' in vast numbers
Because of course, horse owners don't do abandoning, like those scruffy oiks who abandon their dogs or cats... Anyway, there was an item about this on the BBC news but couldn't find much on their website so here is a link direct from the horse's mouth (sorry...) http://www.horsetrust.org.uk/Doc_News...

I thought that particular environmental hazard was restricted to your side the Penines but NO!! On leaving work this afternoon I found it was falling through the atmosphere here in Yorkshire. I had to put on special protective clothing and deploy a personal fall-out shelter. Disturbingly, there was...

Disgusting! I have counted at least 7, possibly 8 sources of this evil substance IN MY OWN HOME! Something must be done - won't somebody think of the children?? On further investigations, I have discovered thatI also have four substantial containers of the stuff! Help, what can I do to remove the t...

Isn't this the very stuff that Leah Betts died of? And I notice there's a dispenser in our office, just a few feet from where I'm sitting in fact. It hasn't got so much as a warning sign on it! Disgusting! I have counted at least 7, possibly 8 sources of this evil substance IN MY OWN HOME! Somethin...

It's a long time since my first house where the windows froze on the inside! You're going soft ! :D Aye, life was so tough in OUR house, that in winter the oxygen froze out of the air. The youngest bairn had the job of stirring the pools of liquid gas on the floor to get some oxygen to the rest of ...

Possibly, but in a situation where things aren't quite that dire, but regular currency is wheelbarrow-fillng in uselessness, I would think that gold and silver coins are likely to become at least nominally valuable, as people do have an attatchment to 'real money' which would be likely to last at le...

Trouble with silver is that unlike gold, you have to pay VAT on it if it's not second hand... and second hand silver is very scarce, so it's very difficult to invest in it unless you're willing to pay way over the odds Ah, I see... Also, is there any point in getting gold coinage that's not 24karat...

Overall, I quite liked it. There were some bits that were quite annoying, and i'm reserving judgement until I've seen part two, and that ruddy sex scene was just silly (though I suppose if you're the BBC and you've managed to get Neve Campbell to be in your drama, you're going to at least try to get...
