Desperate people in Spain. We are heading towards exactly this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsNWbfatRwg One of my nursing colleagues got home after shift tonight to find her house burgled. They stole her puppy FFS. There are some real c**nts out there and not just the increasingly desperate. Sp...

Didn't stop the success of the Red Guard though did it? Perceived profligacy would do just as well.

My missus has her first shift back on at the hospital after a week's annual leave. Their covid ward is nearly full already. Staff are preparing for a shitstorm in the coming week. I certainly know that we have some tough nurses and HCAs out there. I unfortunately am not sure how much I can personal...

Wild thought : a charismatic leader aged say 30 or 40 could reclaim control of the state at the expense of the old people at risk. Thanks for the offer of a chat Vortex. I'm okay, cheers though. I have long thought that a Maoist style Red Guard is on the cards at some point: channeling the anger of...

Well, I'm back to work tomorrow a l'hopital. Going to be too tired/demoralised to keep attentive to this fine forum from now on. In the coming days or weeks my physical and/or mental health will collapse and there won't be any safety net. I have sound self-deliverance methods in place. I never wante...

Nicely put Steve. While I have always valued this forum for its candour, we do need to keep the flame of hope alive, even here.

20 kg of grain is around £6 at our local feed place. Looks fine? If fit for animal feed can't see why I couldn't mill it and bake with it? ...if I had a mill. At least it can be diverted by the government and repurposed. Continued supplies of bread and a glut of cheap meat on the shelves would be ...

Not a chance IMO. Ever seen the state of some smokers outside of hospitals? No legs some of em. Times of stress as well, make it very hard to give up. Some will give up food before fags.

They will be denied healthcare when things get too stretched. Not enough ICU beds, NIV sets or staff to cope. Triage will become brutal like in Italy.

Quiet night shift for me on Haematology ward. Usually very busy but all usual patients who come in with high temperatures being diverted into quarantined beds elsewhere to avoid risk of introducing Covid risk to current immunosupressed inpatients. We nurses all agreed that this was the lull before t...

What does collapse of NHS mean? Running out of gloves, aprons and masks? Hand gel and soap? That would be bad news but other countries don't seem to have. I wonder what the national stocks of PPE are like? I'm sure that doctors and nurses will show up if not unwell.. this is doing my head in waitin...

Did my shift on ward yesterday. Nothing out of the usual other than a mention to 'stay vigilant' during initial safety briefing. No chat about WuFlu amongst doctors and nurses. Immunosuppressed patients seemed subdued, but that is nothing new. Spent this morning manically cutting carpets for laying ...

I've been on annual leave for a week but haven't heard anything about that. Do you mean full headgear and everything? We often wear gloves, aprons and surgical masks for barrier patients.
