I rescued my work pension a few months ago. Half is in gold the other half in a Building Society cash deposit account.

http://www.epml.co.uk/

£100 to open the sipp thencharges are £250 per year (plus an extra £100 per year to administer the extra Building Soc account) so £350 a year in total.

Here Comes Executive Order 6102 For The QE Generation

So I moved half my pension pot into Bullionvault last week. The other half I'm hoping to put into agriculture / water / possibly renewable energy stocks. HOWEVER.... http://www.zerohedge.com/article/here-comes-executive-order-6102-qe-generation-dutch-central-bank-orders-pension-fund-sell-it the glas...

I'd be cautious of putting a high percentage of my assets into gold. I watched a friend put everything he had into gold and coins back twenty years ago when it was $700 an ounce. As soon as they had everyone sucked in as far as they would go the short sellers came out of the woodwork and gold fell ...

well I've no investments as such, but do have a work based pension, which has built up a moderate pot of dosh over the last few years. As mentioned on another thread I've found a relatively cheap SIPP provider (£250 a year) that allows investments in Bullionvault, so I'm in the process of moving thi...

That's good to know Paul. Which pension provider did you use initially? And were you a co-trustee of the pension to begin with (I notice IPS arrange it so that the person taking out the SIPP is co-trustee, but not many others do)

Did the provider offer any resistance to you 'taking over'?

So, I think I've found a SIPP that allows investment in Bullionvault and has low charges: https://www.epml.co.uk/ £100 to open sipp then £250 per year, and they've been around a while, or the MD has: "Francis Moore, Managing Director, EPM is the acknowledged 'Father of SIPPs' having set up the ...

Thanks guys, some very interesting points to further look into I've found a cheaper sipp provider - Hornbuckle Mitchell, they do a single investment sipp for £250 a year or multiple investment sipp at £490 a year (both +vat) which doesnt sound too bad. The only drawback is they insist on you coming ...

Thanks for the feedback folks. The pension pot has about £62k in it, which means the SIPPS fees of £630 per year are about 1%, which doesn’t seem too bad, but if I only put 30% of it into gold, then the fees are 3% a year…. And then what to do with the other £40k? Leave it in the ‘conservative’ opti...

SIPP invested in Bullionvault

I've been thinking about this since this thread first began 3 or 4 years ago.... pity I didn't act a bit sooner as we all know whats happened to gold prices since then. I have a work based pension which I've kept paying into over the last 10 years simply because my employer matches my contributions....

I've got a cheap, 4 years old 110 amp hr leisure battery on my boat.

I leave it connected to a small 5 watt PV panel all year round, done this for the last 2 years and all seems fine when I return to the boat after a few months absence over winter...

There are two scenarios that most on this forum are planning for; fast crash or slow crash. Me too! And I'm trying to cover both possibilities. In a slow crash scenario (or indeed if I was to be made redundant next week) I would rent out my London house and live on the boat. There is a real sence o...
