The "game" has now been running for some time now. Is anyone following it in detail? They are many great contributions - the short term effects of a supply crisis are covered particularly well. The game is only designed to cover the first 30 weeks of Peak Oil crisis time ... but "Pea...

I have had a roam around WWO. It seems to work a lot better than I thought it might. I had assumed that a full-blown highly coordinated "proper" role playing game would be needed .. but in fact this loose collection of individuals each running their own mini-simulations in their heads see...

Maybe a realistic simulation might engage some people with the issue. Such a thing might even appear in Le Monde . Funny thing is, your pretend gasoline price is still only $6.18. Dont make me laugh. Our prices are already way over $8. And your gasoline is too high quality. A refiner in Europe only...

NASTY use of "hidden text". Expect to receive a sharp slap on the wrist from Google sometime ;)
None so far; we're on "Week 11" and rolling fine. People seem to be able to find it.

Re: What will Mr & Mrs Average do when they "get it

I wonder what Mr & Mrs Normal of 39 Acacia Avenue will do when they see a respected TV program which explains that Peak Oil has 100% definitely arrived and that global oil supplies will decline at say 2% - 5% compound per year FOR EVER. * Would the news freak them out? * Would they even underst...

It surprises me that some countries haven't already decided that they will stop exporting, as they want to use their limited oil to keep their own country going BAU for the next 30-50 years even if other parts of the world start to crumble....... when you think about this, why hasn't it happened?? ...

I've read about other simulations of oil shocks, such as the SAFE one, and they conclude that policymakers actually have very little latitude to do anything once the oil shock hits. I've also read about actual oil shocks, which support that. Here's Ronald R. Cooke: http://www.321energy.com/editoria...

Just that I too have read the books, bought the videos, been to a conference, moved to the country, bought a bit of land .... BUT ... I still feel that knowing about Peak Oil (or GW for that matter) will NOT significantly affect the outcome on a personal level. I would conclude that that results fr...

Seriously though writerguy, all the other emergency services have training courses and packages. It seems 100% logical that the world has a 'dry-run' for an inevitable scenario such as PO. Well, sure. In the US, I think that plan is right up there on the shelf next to the "Hurricane Preparedne...

Just because someones living a lifestyle where they use electricity doesnt mean they couldnt live without it . There is a element that the more so called labour saving things you have the more work you need to do to pay for them . Well said, jonny2mad, you got my point. The issue I raised was quali...
