The Whole House Book - Borer & Harris

Post by DamianB »

This is a CAT publication that is part textbook, part handbook and part lifestyle publication that is all about eco-building design and materials. It's an excellent introduction to concepts, materials and techniques that are primarily aimed at new-build but also relevant to renovation. My copy (1998) is slightly outdated in some areas (heating systems, legislation) but may have been updated. It's an essential book for anyone planning any sort of refurbishment for post-peak living.
"If the complexity of our economies is impossible to sustain [with likely future oil supply], our best hope is to start to dismantle them before they collapse." George Monbiot
