They are to start the process today from what I've read. I doubt that Russia has any spare troops and equipment to attack anyone other than Ukraine at the moment and probably won't have for a number of years without a declaration of war and general mobilisation and that would only cover troop numbers.
We have a recent defensive agreement with Sweden at least so would be bound to go to their aid. The agreement was made specifically to cover just such a sneak attack. Given the amount of notice that NATO had of the Ukraine attack we would hear of the build-up of troops several weeks before the actual attack. I would think that we therefore have several weeks, probably months, before any attack starts.

Re: Sweden/Finland watch.
Given the Russian lacklustre performance I think an attack could be used as a further test of NATO weapon systems and an excuse to reduce Russia's sex ratio a bit more in favour of females.
I would like to see NATO develop a fairly good ranged (30km or so) rocket that carries a fuel-air bomb to knock out Russian artillery crews or staging areas.

Yes, the secret does seem to be having an accurate artillery system which outranges your opponent either using high accuracy or guided munitions.

I'm now wondering if it was someone Russian who was behind that leak of Sanna Marin dancing - trying to discredit her.
