According to various news reports.

Some reports suggest hijacking for a ransom
Other reports suggest that significant numbers of Migrants are on board and aim to land in the UK.
The second theory sounds more likely to me. Hijacking for a ransom is normally in more lawless regions and not in UK waters.

This is now known to be due to a number of migrants on board.
Being generally reported as a hijacking or as piracy, but the owners of the ship state that is not a hijacking.

No doubt said "hijackers/migrants" will have full access to lawyers, European convention of human rights treatment, halal food and 5 star accommodation provided as well.
