I can't recall seeing this being discussed on PS, though its aims are dear to most posters' hearts.

Ignore the very slight hippy angle and have a read (start from page 5 to dig straight in). Worth a look, especially for Telegraph readers.

Some good ideas in there, but the key is why should people bother doing them? I've heard that about 1 in 10 is motivated by the 'fear factor' - it was reading 'The Party's Over' that got me going in 2004. But what about the 9 in 10? "Humans may be extinct sometime between 2025 and 2050." Is probably the best thing that could happen to the planet.

Give up showering one day a week? This is just gross self indulgence. A shower once a week should be adequate. Modern western washing ideas are just bonkers, and probably excessive to the point of being unhealthy.

True but that's irrelevant to the aim of the suggested plan. You'd hardly expect them to jump in the deep end.

Besides, they're preaching to the converted, similar to what Mike is saying, as 9 out of 10 people are not going consider reading it, let alone acting on it, should they even come across it.
