Weird ladder mystery!
This morning we found a large ladder, covered with frost, in the centre of our land.
What's all that about?
A stolen & dumped ladder?
A dumped burglar's tool?
Mrs Vortex thinks however that yesterday we must have disturbed a mistletoe thief.
(Misteltoe in the fields somehow seems to disappear around Christmas ...)
Any other ideas?

I would suspect either stolen and dumped or a dumped burglars tool.
It would be well to inform the police, not in the expectation of much/any action but as an a*se covering exercise.
If the ladder was stolen and then found in your property that could be unfortunate, and simply saying "it appeared in the night" sounds a poor excuse.
If however you had reported it to the police that would look better.

I would not have expected anything more than that, but it least if it is stolen property you can prove that you reported it and were therefore not acting dishonestly yourself.Vortex wrote:Yep - just done it.

If it was wood it could have been discarded by some contractors trying to do some work at a site which prohibits wooden ladders on H&S grounds
Because they cannot get on site with their wooded ladders and it won't readily go into a skip on site they drive away and 'dispose' of it and come back with shiny new metal ones.
Conversely, metal ladders are prohibited from any site which has high voltage and the contractors need to find wooden ladders in a hurry.

I have a weird ladder story!
I was renting an apartment in a Castillio in Italy and I managed to lock myself out. The Castillio was on a hill in the middle of nowhere and it was 1:30 in the morning. Just then a guy walked past us carrying a ladder over his shoulder. I borrowed to climb up through the open window and let the family back in.
What are the odds?

It's not ladders you need to worry about, it's snakes.
