Hey RGR, you're 2nd Generation "Doomer"RGR wrote:For some reason Doomers seem to define food security as having their own little plot to grow things in, which is different than the concept of an entire country being self sufficient in food production.
I don't call it "Doomer" either, I call it a sensible precaution when we can no longer rely on imports. remember, the UK imports 40% of its food.RGR wrote:We never called it being a "Doomer". Its just what you did for food when raised poor in Appalachia. I didn't eat meat between the age of 11 and 18 that I hadn't personally put a bullet into.Catweazle wrote: Hey RGR, you're 2nd Generation "Doomer"
I certainly don't begrudge a dirt-farmer lifestyle to anyone who wants it,albeit the attraction eludes me. To be honest, if every peak oiler who wanted to be a farmer would just get it DONE already, it might not even be necessary to write a technical paper on how screwed up their resource depletion ideas are.
We have already seen substantial price rises.

Won’t importing food, just be an economic problem? Ships are large platforms that can be powered by almost any type of energy.
Let nobody suppose that simple, inexpensive arrangements are faulty because primitive. If constructed correctly and in line with natural laws they are not only right, but preferable to fancy complicated devices.

Does it matter if the food isn't on my table because it doesn't exist or because I can't afford to have it shipped to me ? Hungry is hungry.the mad cyclist wrote:Won’t importing food, just be an economic problem? Ships are large platforms that can be powered by almost any type of energy.
I don't think we can rely on it appearing in the supermarket at a low price, so a bit of contingency gardening and fuel production makes perfect sense to me.

I couldn’t agree more, but you and I are fortunate, the vast majority of people living in this country, haven’t the space to grow a meaningful amount of food.Catweazle wrote:Does it matter if the food isn't on my table because it doesn't exist or because I can't afford to have it shipped to me ? Seriously RGR. Why your reluctance to offer up your publications for viewing. Surely if it is published you can tell us?
Otherwise you are wanking in a dark closet.... Ah, sorry, I was trying to be poetic and failed.
Your last mail does point to you being a wind up merchant though.
Sorry, but that's how it looks.
Go on, dish the dirty and let us know some publications we can read. Or at least give a hint where we can look.
Otherwise I guess we have no option but to put you down as a troll / faker / narcist. Delete as appropriate.
