40% of the rape grown in the UK (figure from several years ago, so may be different now) is used for bio-diesel. FIT would only ever work for a small proportion of installations. As Germany discovered, it gets very expensive, and everyone has to pay so the early “investors� get an inflation beating payback. It fails if everyone was to get into the scheme.
