Phew, that is a relief, I was getting quite concerned.

What concerns me more than his drivel is the sheer number of people that believe Clarkson has a grain of credibility or even find him funny. If there were as many people in the UK who were prepared for PO, as there are who tune into Top Gear, the next 10 years would be a breeze.

I tend to treat Clarkson as a stand up comic. I do watch top gear, I find him and the others very entertaining - but that doesn't stop me being p/o aware and therefore understanding what they're saying is claptrap. I suspect I'm not the only one....

Yeah, me too. Treat him as the entertainer he is, not the politician he isn't.

Yea, too right Pip. I also find Clarkson funny - I have one of his books (a gift) and it is a scream.

I just take him for what he is - an entertainer. I am sure that if he told it 'like it is' his career / popularity would take a nosedive... he's just working the system. Reckon he's a pretty descent bloke actually and I think if one was to engage him in PO disscussion down the pub he'd probably agree - but like most would say "what the hell can we do about it?"

He would indeed be a powerfull weapon to have on side.

I quite often watch Top Gear and find it very funny. You can' take it seriously...... and we are all allowed to laugh!

I heard a while back that Top Gear was the BBC's most lucrative overseas programme - sold for broadcast in other countries.

If there's one thing I expect most of us can agree on, it's that this nation needs exports!

Get a grip guys. He's not the messiah and probably has less of a following than people think. What exactly was the context in which he said that about oil running out anyway. Again we don't know so why spend pointless and precious minutes discussing it.

I know you all want oil to run out now so that you can tell everyone we told you so and pat each other on the back but at present oil isn't going to affect us in the way you want it to just yet. The recession is set to get a lot worse and the oil price will drop dramatically as demand continues to fall.

Dumping crap on someone's lawn is hardly mature is it? That's definitely one nil to Clarkson. He's a funny and very clever guy and has always maintained he never wants to be a politician so why not dump sh*t outside the Houses of Parliament? Let's face it, the people of China are desperate to drive bigger and faster cars so what difference is Clarkson going to make?

True indeed. The one guy I work with who drives a huge pickup truck, when I was talking about electric cars, he presented the youtube clip with Clarkson where he slagged off the Tesla.

Previously it was Benny Hill so that puts Top Gear in context.
