Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama's first administration, he added.
Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. "We cannot afford to put off change any longer," said Hansen. "We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead."

I cant see that threatening the Earth at all. Surely the Earth will still be here. Threaten mankind and a few other living things then yep. Then thats only threaten not wipe out If and thats a big if, that they do set an example and the rest of the world laughs and carries on whats he going to do, go to war against china?
I really can not see anyone doing anything about climate change, we have more chance of a 'saving' action from a massive global down turn and less energy resources than from any human. Funily I got a hunch that there is a direct correlation between resources and climate. Worryingly though, is it when used up most of the resources, climate goes to the brink and comes back, or mother nature thinks ah ha certain species have grown too much, time to cut them back and then reset the climate?
Muwhahahahaa Andy, I bet he just said, stick it on that 'crisis to do list' to which the person replied, 'Sir, there's no room, shall I stable on another sheet of A4?'

"I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that." — Thomas Edison, 1931
