Collective intelligence used in alternate reality games...

http://www.worldwithoutoil.org/

This is a fictional game to see if collective responses can lead to intelligent planning solutions.

No idea how it is going to work. Anyone heard anything else about it?

....and for what it is worth, from where I am sitting (that will mean something to some), there isn't much talk of a meltdown, just a bit of market volatility.

We have plenty of houseing stock in this country, just too few people in each house. People rarely get put on the street even in the few occasions of eviction. Most are taken in by relative or friends or more likely most rent out the extra space they have to make ends meet. Falling house prices usua...

Sorry to have missed out on this debate...I suspect most of what I would like to say has been said so I'll keep it short: For a large proportion of people who place themselves in the "faith" bracket, their day to day manifestations of that faith are not detrimental to society and so as a t...

Jerusalem Tavern - 7th Feb from 6:15 anyone around?

Go on, you know you want some organic cider.

I'd watch out for the 6.5% stout mind as it snuck up on me the other day.

Lets try and get a good number along for the first of 2007.

Ok, I agree that the topic is not primarily about peak oil and some of the posts potentially suffered from a bit of festive break boredom but I do think that what I was attempting to bring to attention in the original post is relevant. If we restrict ourselves to news articles that only mention &quo...

I've just realised that Sir Ian may be trying to tell us something....you know, like they do in the movies when someone has a gun behind their back. He's actually hinting at the threat from Tony Blair and the government (especially the bit about "no specific intelligence").

Be afraid, all the time, about anything, just be afraid

A double wammy example in just a title and the first two paragraphs:

Firstly it shows the continued relentless efforts to keep the population in a state of fear. Secondly it shows the disgraceful complicity of the BBC in this endeavour.

I always thought that due to the parabolic nature of satellite dishes, these could easily be converted into perfect solar cookers with a bit of tin foil. The reciever could also be easily modified to hold a copper based pan or dish. Anyone tried this?

I'm of the opinion that the only way we will be able to combat this threat may well be through combat - similar to how the national front was destroyed. I generally think that there are enough people now who have access to the right information, they just need to be willing to activate and organise ...
