Arcelor Steel (and BBVA bank) redundancies in Spain

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/6c79ddb4-5066-11de-9530-00144feabdc0.html?nclick_check=1 Doom 'n' Gloom for the steel industry and one bank's rather different approach to reducing the workforce: ArcelorMittal has struck a deal that would allow it to lay off up to 40 per cent of its 12,000 workers in Spai...

Re: Ah

Isn't there a particularly ruthless survivalist character who hooks up with the central characters? You mean "Pirrie", who joins them in London right at the beginning when they try to acquire arms from his shop. He turns out to be an expert rifleman with a cool-headed approach to group su...

Sorry about the long post. And it was a most pleasurable rant to read! Best bit: Moving here made me relax for the first time in my life - the first time I'd ever really stopped and taken the time to think properly about what it means to be simply alive and alive simply. Everybody should give this ...

Talking about enjoying yourselves and preparing, take a look at http://www.powerswitch.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11404 where you can do both, again. Looks good! Will you be over here for it, Eric? Unfortunately I won't be in the UK this summer, but thanks for asking - it would be great to meet y...

I'd say expand your horizons now, in a way that you won't be able to do in 10 years. If you happen upon somewhere where you feel grounded, and you can figure out a way to carve a little niche for yourself, settle there. I agree, though settling down "elsewhere", especially if its abroad, ...

Just out of interest, has anyone got any stats for lives lost due to falling down stairs? No particular reason other than curiosity. (OK, OK, I need to get a life)

CC, PO, recession, xenophobia ... pfffff... there are just too many unknowns. So move abroad? Now? Naaah, I'd say stick around wherever you are, hang out with people you get on well with, prepare as best as you can, and don't forget to enjoy yourself (without it being at the expense of others). If t...

It MUST be a conspiracy, and here is the proof. Observe the arrivals board at Charles de Gaulle airport: http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45854000/jpg/_45854682_007423274-1.jpg See how they try to COVER UP the TRUTH by declaring "AF447 - Delayed ", instead of correctly informing the p...

Can someone explain why the price of oil is going up again when there seems to be a huge gas surplus everywhere ? Have the oil producers cut production that much ? I'd say that oil and gas aren't really interchangeable enough (on a short term basis) for the two prices to move in parallel. Realistic...

Re: Asia's Got a Natural Gas Glut Too

Original article: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601072&sid=a3aQi.WquPag&refer=energy :) This perceived future gas glut in Asia seems to be a bit more "virtual" than the US gas glut though, as it depends on the approval of large liquefaction projects which require huge le...

April 2010? That only gives you about 2 years worth of sales before THE "Real" END arrives in 2012...
