Re: Looks like a potentially severe drought coming

Re: Looks like a potentially severe drought coming

Why didn't they just pump sea water up to the top to power the funicular. It would use the same amount of energy.

Re: Looks like a potentially severe drought coming

We have noticed this trend over the last few years as there is a lot less grazing available on our local common early in the year. This has a knock on effect right through until the autumn rain comes. Our cattle are having to eat a lot more browse so we are breeding towards a cow which will cope wit...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Did your son get his test kits online, Dusti? If so it could be just another online scam. Tell him to keep an eye on his card outgoings if so.

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Friends went to a zoo yesterday and it was crowded with no social distancing and few masks worn. The next lockdown will be along soon.

Re: Greer absolutely nails it....

Spanish bluebells should be dug up and destroyed as they are hybridising with the indigenous variety.

I had a grandmother who used to pinch/take cuttings form other's gardens. Very embarrassing!!

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

The above article is titled "The Long Read" so I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised when it went on a bit. Did it give me an insight into what people like LJ and Snail think and how they think? A little. Am I any better informed? No probably not. Was I saddened by what it said about s...

I suppose it gives the staff something to do to justify their employment. And is a good example of the reliability of nuclear power at a point when some people might need reminding.

Re: Greer absolutely nails it....

What is to stop a newly educated forager from taking a piece of something edible and planting it elsewhere ? In the garden, park, or just another hedgerow ? Isn't this better than importing a Spanish grown lettuce or fruit from Israel ? i'll admit to a certain amount of transplanting , seed collect...

Re: Greer absolutely nails it....

One of the advantages of buying an existing house is that, usually, you have somewhere to live as you move onto the land with some or most of the "mod cons." As long as it isn't listed you can easily insulate the outside and, with most older Welsh houses, you get the benefit of all that th...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Are you lot thinking of deleting lj's posts? That's a...fashionable...thing to do but maybe ive misconstrued. If so, at least give him a heads up by pming or email as he might want to back some things up. If you read the above posts again, Snail, you will find that we are talking about preserving h...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

It doesn't help when reactionary web sites like this post irresponsible reports about people dying after being vaccinated and all but claim that 5000 people died because they were vaccinated. https://www.conservativewoman.co.uk/vaccine-linked-to-blindness-deafness-miscarriages-and-5000-deaths/ They...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

I don't know where this meme that LJ's posts will be deleted came from. I suggested that we ban him specifically so that his posts couldn't be deleted as were many of RGR's by RGR himself before he left. I also suggested that he, LJ, should be contacted to say that he is welcome to rejoin if he wish...
