Re: Are we on the brink of an electric car revolution?

I do not think 650KW will be such a big deal. As I said 350KW chargers are already available, if no cars yet to use them. The move is towards higher voltages, the Porche is an 800V car, and there will be more. At those voltages 650KW is less than an amp. I think you may have got the decimal point i...

Re: Wild deer set to wreak havoc in UK

Deer are a part of the natural world in modest numbers, but are indeed very destructive when overly numerous. Of course another species comes to mind that is many orders of magnitude more destructive. These overly numerous & unmanaged animals are truly wreaking havoc, not just on the UK, but on...

Re: Much of Pakistan blacked out.

There appears to be a lot of "fog" surrounding this! https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-what-led-to-the-nationwide-power-outage-in-pakistan-7140969/ "Why did the power outage occur? Addressing an early morning press conference in Islamabad the next day, Ayub said th...

Re: US watch

Think there may be a tad of macho posturing here (heaven forbid anybody on this forum could be
accused of that). A less zoomed in and cropped picture apparently shows that they could have just
walked up the steps like everybody else!

Re: Brexit process

If we leave with no deal we get it all back from day one, and I believe it will be strictly enforced. There's also no way that the UK government would subsequently go back and accept the same or worse terms, if that's what Macron is hoping for. I see yet another Monty Python painting yourself in a ...

Christmas Reads & Secret Santa

I would propose posting suggestions for books as christmas gifts generally and also a secret santa suggestion for another forum member. A good friend, concerned at my apparent lack of concern about my personal cyber security, gave me a copy of “The Permanent Record” by Edward Snowden last Christmas....

Re: Why it is so hard to talk about collapse. And we desperately need to talk about it.

Yes, I wasn't including fiction (which I don't read). I find this absolutely astonishing! Apart from all the pleasure you are denying yourself IMHO well written fiction can be a much superior and compelling medium to so called "factual' books in addressing complex human problems. Did you read ...

Re: "Blue Sky Thinking" about Heathrow

According to the unspeakably petit bourgeois grauniad:- "The court of appeal had found the government’s approval of the runway was illegal because ministers had failed to take into account the UK’s commitments under the 2015 Paris climate accord, which requires keeping global temperature rise a...

No deal isn't going to be anything like as bad as you think it will be.
I would really like to believe this but in my opinion it is very wishful thinking.

Re: Brexit process

The EU, IMHO, is typical of three kinds of organisation which threaten people who want to leave: mafia families, secret societies and religious cults - and that the EU has elements of all three. I actually agree with you here. The organisation in fact is the European Commission, rather than the Eur...

Re: Brexit process

The current late stage negotiation shenanigans, amateur theatrics and posturing would seem to be mainly arse covering to distract from the fact that whatever is agreed, or not, will piss off a large percentage of the population. First off is the 50% of the UK population that think they don’t want Br...
