Re: New coronavirus in/from China

https://www.theguardian.com/news/2021/apr/08/among-covid-sceptics-we-are-being-manipulated-anti-lockdown Long discussion piece on the covid sceptics. My impression is that most of the protests will fade in the coming months, unless we are forced back into lockdown by a rising death rate from a vacci...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

It doesn't help when reactionary web sites like this post irresponsible reports about people dying after being vaccinated and all but claim that 5000 people died because they were vaccinated. https://www.conservativewoman.co.uk/vaccine-linked-to-blindness-deafness-miscarriages-and-5000-deaths/ They ...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Report in the Guardian that total uk deaths in the last week is the lowest since 2014. This is partly because of mild weather, very little flu and fewer road deaths in lockdown, but some is due to people having already died of Covid who would otherwise have died this week. They estimate 5 to 15%, bu...

Re: PowerTheft

It is very common even in new build blocks of flats for the power metres to be allocated to the wrong flat, so you end up paying for your neighbour's consumption, or even multiple neighbours. On a similar theme, an old friend who went through a long process to get a land line (and broadband) access ...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Reported now that vaccine resistant strains now found at 40% of Covid cases in some parts of France. Chief scientific advisers leaning heavily on Johnson to introduce stricter travel controls from France. Large numbers of truck drivers travel from the area without any quarantine measures. We may hav...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

The French third wave is partly driven by the SA variant. Currently running at 5-10% of 30,000 new cases a day in France. Only a matter of time before it gets a foothold in the UK, and being partially resistant to current vaccines, will quickly take hold as the UK begins to open up over the summer. ...

Re: New law regarding protest.

Historically women have been controlled by brute force and by brain washing, particularly religion and social shame. The latter are still dominant where education is weak, and all institutions like religion and patriarchal countries fight against educating women, or try to limit it to only meet basi...

Re: Are we on the brink of an electric car revolution?

The government is showing it's "green" credentials again. After freezing duty on petrol and diesel (yet again) they have with immediate effect cut the electric car subsidy from £3500 to £2500 and slashed the upper cut off list price from £50,000 to £35,000 for a purchase to qualify. This r...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

If you are a political leader who refuses to acknowledge a highly infectious disease, refuses to wear protective masks, attends mass rallies, and have at least 3 senior politicians reportedly die of that disease, and bans the country from even testing for it, you should not be surprised if you fall ...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

I do sometimes wonder if the people promoting anti vax propaganda know that it is mostly BAME demographic who are most easily influenced by their lies, and that reducing the BAME population of the UK is in fact their primary objective in promoting them. I am sure no one on this site would be so unde...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Get mine this afternoon.

Interesting that the Irish are ''pausing' the oxford vaccine roll-out on the same day that AZ reports supplies to the EU will be further delayed.
