Staying in touch

I echo what's been said above. I still pop in regularly to read posts.

I'd be interested in the answer to this, as I have two panels which catch mainly the morning sun, and two which catch mainly the afternoon sun. The system, which I designed and installed myself, operates through a charge controller and stores energy in two 100A-h deep cycle batteries. It all seems t...

Agreed. All of the Americans I've met have been really nice, friendly people. They all had in common that they were 'ordinary' people, not involved in corporations or government in any way.

The powermongers all over the world on the other hand, have many things in common...

Agreed. Dinner candles are the best. I'm going to get a few candle holders too.
Thanks.

My brother-in-law lives in Oslo, and the Norwegian government (or his employer... can't remember which) covered the cost of him taking night classes in Norwegian. He's been there about 11 years and is quite fluent now. I know Norwegian is (North) Germanic and therefore related to English (West Germa...

Can't fault you, Adam2. Seems very sensible, if you have the space to store it all. I have two small boxes of candles, a tonne of firewood, 300Kg of smokeless coal, 20 litres of paraffin, a paraffin lamp, several torches, small-ish stocks of batteries, water purification tablets, reasonable stocks o...

Unless the 'natural' gas powered vehicles are using renewably produced bio-gas, they're drawing down a finite fossil fuel, just like a diesel-powered one would. And unless the electric car is using renewably produced electricity from solar, hydro, wind etc. it is drawing down finite fossil fuels (at...

Thanks, Ken. I do like the look of the Ventive S+. I'd probably choose to have it fitted to the side of the house, as I don't want to interfere with the integrity of the roof, nor with my luvverly loft insulation.

Does anyone know what the price is, fully fitted?

That's huge! As I remember it, wind is how the difference between the sun's thermal energy falling at the Equator and that falling at the poles is evened out, by transferring heat towards the poles. That's a lot of energy being transferred across the Philippines. 380 thousand Watts per square metre!
