Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Heard of the Great Barrington Declaration? Have you heard of the American Institute for Economic Research ? Funders of such tomes as: "What Greta Thunberg Forgets About Climate Change" "The Real Reason Nobody Takes Environmental Activists Seriously" "Brazilians Should Keep ...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

95% of the mainstream media of the entire Western world is run by about 4 organizations. It is possible to literally present any narrative by selecting whomever is prepared to bullshit for money or, better still, to find someone who actually believes whatever bullshit narrative is required. Whilst, ...

It’s Just a Mask. It’s just 2 metres It’s just 3 weeks. It’s just non-essential businesses. It’s just non-essential workers. It's just 3 more weeks It's just until we work it out It’s just a bar. It’s just a restaurant. It's just care homes It's just schools It’s just to keep from overwhelming the N...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

In my view, this country needs a PROPER civil defence organisation, possibly run as a branch of the armed forces. Such an organisation could hold substantial stocks of emergency supplies, including but not limited to. Tents, for emergency housing, field hospitals, and morgues. Camp beds, blankets. ...

Half the NHS beds we had in the 1980s Longstanding shortages of doctors and nurses Larger UK population People living longer and developing multiple health problems Net immigration now exceeding 250K per year What could possibly go wrong when a [slightly] nastier than usual new seasonal virus presen...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

More obfuscatory bullshit Nowhere have I said that: (a) Covid19 is not dangerous to the very frail and elderly (b) that Covid19 has not taken some people somewhat earlier than they might have gone What I have said, consistently, is that: (a) virtually the only people dying of Covid19 are the extreme...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

So, you really are either thick or dishonest. My guess is a bit of both. But, mostly the latter and I think a fair speculation is that you were thick enough to be taken in at the beginning. Which is nothing to be ashamed of in itself. Lots of people were thick enough to be taken in at the beginning,...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Right. Jesus wept. It's almost easier if I thought you were just wantonly not understanding...... It is true that a certain number of people who are 80 are going to make it to 89. Obviously. But,it is equally true that a certain number of people who are 80 and not going to make it to 89. As it turns...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

... and I would lay even more confident bets bets that people whose average age is 82.4 have got a significantly higher than 50% chance of dying of anything within any 12 month period. In the US (first table I found, UK will be a little longer), the life expectancy at 82 is +7.32 years male and +8....

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

The online medical journal The Lancet has apologized to readers after retracting a study that said the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine did not help to curb COVID-19 and might cause death in patients. Ask yourself why this drug needed to be sidelined as an effective treatment for covid, ignorin...

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

I'll spell this out since you clearly lack the capacity to work it out for yourself.

The chance of someone who is, say, 20 years old making it through the next 7 years is not the same as the chance of someone who is, say, 80 making it through the next 7 years you (deleted KN).

That, by the way, is form the UK governments on page.

Even they, laughably, call a less than 1 in 2 chance of attaining a given age a "life expectancy"

Re: New coronavirus in/from China

Not all countries are following the UK and vaccinating the old and sick first. Some are vaccinating the working population first as they are the primary route of transmission. The choice is not always clear cut as to which strategy will save most lives in each country. Having decided that the oldes...
